As we settle into this new year, we are filled…
A Look at How Far We Have Come
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 16th edition of Innova, RusselSmith’s online publication on all things interesting, innovative and informative, with a special focus on the oil and gas industry.
This edition marks the end of the first half of 2018. At the beginning of the year, I emphasized that in 2018 we will focus on disruptive solutions that will have a positive impact on the Oil and Gas industry.
To achieve this objective of adding value through innovation, we have continued to invest in the development of human capital because our goals can only be achieved by having the right people with the right skills.
When combined with commitment, a pioneering mindset and open-mindedness, the journey becomes easier.
RusselSmith recorded a major safety achievement in the first half of 2018 by reaching four (4) million man-hours of operations without any Lost Time Injury. Our key objective as a safety-focused and socially-responsible organization is to ensure that people are not negatively-affected by our operational activities.
We conducted our annual Safety Week event as part of our commitment towards creating awareness about safety and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment at all times, and at all locations where we work.
The activities that marked the 2018 Safety Week included health talks by seasoned medical practitioners, a Health & Safety Quiz, a 4km Health Walk, a HSE Debate and a tree-planting.
We also had presentations by some of our customers and partners in the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry.
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, RusselSmith inducted a new school into its Junior Safety Rangers™ programme, a safety awareness program which teaches students the basic principles of health and safety and encourages them to spread those positive safety values among their peers and families.
During the first half of the year, RusselSmith was certified by Bureau Veritas to carry out thickness measurements of hull structures of ships. This further increases our capabilities for delivery of quality services to our customers on various assets across the industry.
We look forward to the second half of 2018 with excitement, as we continue to make great strides towards achieving our goals.
